Resumen
Introduction: One of the main visual problems related to administrative assignments is the computer user syndrome or visual fatigue, "which is a visual problem that is accompanied by numerous signs and symptoms specific to upcoming vision work, such as: eye irritation , burning, blurred vision, pruritus, hyperemia, epiphora, foreign body sensation and headaches "(2) therefore the following research question arises: what are the visual conditions presented by the computer users of the Holy University? Tomás Floridablanca headquarters?
Objective: To evaluate the visual health conditions in the computer users of the Santo Tomas University, Floridablanca.Method: A cross-sectional, descriptive, observational quantitative study was carried out in which a pilot test was carried out with 10% of the selected population, after this a generalized visual examination intervention was carried out, which is emphasized in the taking of visual acuity, refractive state, flexibility of accommodation, amplitude of accommodation, But and Biomicroscopy, and a structured survey was used to inquire about the degree of knowledge regarding visual hygiene and ergonomics, executing specific requirements for the fulfillment of the proposed objectives . Results: The proportion of women with normal tear film 26.92%. The proportion of participants who are exposed to the computer 7 hours or more per day in their workplace with normal tear film 31.03%. It is evidenced 64.52% of the population belonged to the secretariat and of which 80% of the secretariats presented problems in the flexibility of accommodation. Conclusions: It was concluded that the female sex is more likely to present a tear break time faster than that of men. Age is a risk factor, the younger age is the time of tear rupture and we can conclude that in 90.9% the administrative staff of the University of Santo Tomás who present altered tear film are with a daily exposure to the computer of 7 hours or plus. Recommendations: Visual health professionals are recommended to focus more on the causes and treatments of the SVC, promoting promotion and prevention; It is vitally important that different measures are included to improve the use of the computer, such as a minimum distance of 50 cm for the use of screens, less time to use a mobile device and performing active visual pauses by implementing the 20 / 20/20 rule. And the creation of a visual risk epidemiological surveillance program for video terminal users.
