Resumen
The links between the mafias and the political elites have been one of the most relevant issues in recent colombian history. One of the most important cases was the attempt by the Medellín Cartel to create a political project with different politicians. This research was carried out with the objective of: first of all to identify the sources of ideological power of the Cartel between 1980 and 1984 from an analysis of the social context that was lived in the city of Medellín. Secondly, identify the sources of political power of the Medellín Cartel in the 1982 Pablo Escobar campaign. Finally analyze the links between the Medellín Cartel and the regional and national political elite throughout the decade to demonstrate the mutually beneficial relationship between the actors. All this from different sources such as the press, interviews and court cases.
