The urban expansion of the metropolitan area of Villavicencio, the regional commercial connection, congestion, transport times and pollution led to the development of a proposal for the construction of a railway system for the transport of cargo and passengers, which allows the reduction of transport times and costs. This project was carried out through the collection of information from the Load Use Plans of municipalities, national and local entities on the subject and some comparisons with successful mobility cases in other national and international cities, which could conclude that the tram is the most efficient mode for the two types of zones, with a single system; medium- and high-density areas, separated by medium distances, with capacity between 12,000 and 28,000 hour/sense passengers and speeds between 30-110 km/h that could reduce the current 80 minutes of travel to 50 minutes a reduction that is reflected in the economy of its inhabitants, the competitiveness of the region, the logistical value of goods, sustainability and well-being.
