dc.description.abstract | In the present work, the practical tasks developed from the theoretical knowledge acquired during the years of study at the Santo Tomás University, Tunja section, were consigned. These tasks were carried out in the project: "Phase II security cell" and in maintenance work carried out at the Gerdau Diaco plant, with the company Metroconstrucciones S.A.S.
As an intern, the project was monitored, with regard to compliance with the conditions that must be taken into account for the construction of a security cell, in accordance with the provisions of the Technical Regulation of the drinking water and sanitation sector basic RAS. Likewise, industrial safety and occupational health aspects were addressed, as these contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of work and the conditions of the workers. Likewise, special attention was paid to the activities to be carried out in the construction and operational process of the phase II security cell, so that the guidelines that mitigated, controlled, compensated and corrected as much as possible, the impacts that could be generated in the development of each of the processes.
In this way, the project was based on the construction of a safety cell to deposit the fumes scrubber powders, which according to studies carried out by Gerdau Diaco, turn out to be toxic and require handling and a special area , for containing Lead and Cadmium. Thus, in accordance with the environmental license granted by Corpoboyacá, it was possible to start the construction phase, which included activities such as: excavations, concrete structures such as inspection boxes, channels of three different types and energy dissipators; lifting of jars in slag, installation of leaks and leachate pipes, installation of clay as a waterproofing barrier, installation of thermo-sealed geo-membrane, installation of filtering material and installation of non-woven geo-textile. Later in the operation phase, 5714.71 m3 of dust from the scrubber were transported, spread and compacted. Finally, in the closing phase, the 60 thousandth of an inch thermo-sealed geo-membrane was installed, the geo-mesh was placed, and the clay and black earth were transported and spread; and finally the installation of grass.
On the other hand, maintenance work was carried out at the Gerdau Diaco plant, in order to correct or prevent failures in its facilities and equipment, seeking that they continue to provide the service for which they were designed. | |
