Resumen
Asphalt mixtures in pavements are subjected daily to different vehicular loads and climatic changes, giving rise to deformations or other damages, so it is considered necessary to modify some properties with the addition of different materials to ensure longer life and reduction in maintenance activities in the asphalt layers.
This research project aims to design a modified asphalt mixture with ground tempered glass (TMV) using the MARSHALL methodology by performing laboratory tests where 10%, 20% and 30% of aggregate will be replaced by TMV, which will allow us to evaluate the performance of a modified asphalt mixture compared to a conventional asphalt mixture.
Based on the results obtained from the laboratory, we will proceed to establish whether replacing a percentage of aggregate with TMV will show improvements with respect to the properties provided by a conventional asphalt mix when subjected to high levels of traffic and climatic agents.
The size of the aggregate that would be replaced in the mix by the VTM would result in the highest percentage retained in the particle size.
The result is an asphalt mix modified with VTM with similar properties to the conventional mix in terms of pavement structure design, but improving its stability characteristics, which guarantees lower deformations in the wearing course.
