dc.description.abstract | The marking of acrylic prostheses with the technique of inclusion of the QR code allows a scientific and technical contribution to dentistry and especially to forensic sciences regarding the identification of partially or totally edentulous patients wearing acrylic dental prostheses. This technique allows to gather the indications of the ADA regarding the marking of prostheses such as simplicity, specificity, resistance, cosmetically acceptable, resistance, consistency, economic, fast and of simple elaboration. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the marking technique for acrylic dental prostheses using the QR code, where the patient´s data will be described such as name, surname, ID number, blood group and the presence of any systemic disease that it presents. Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was carried out on 72 marked dental prostheses of patients benefiting from the Smiles for Peace project led by the Technology Program in the Dental Laboratory of the USTA, Bucaramanga section. The reading of the code was evaluated at the second and fourth month with IOS and Android operating system devices, where the identification and legibility associated with the code size and type of prosthesis were verified. Statistical analysis was performed in the STATA 14 program; the measures of central tendency and dispersion were calculated for quantitative variables while absolute and relative frequencies for qualitative variables. For the bivariate analysis, the Ji2 test was used to identify the association between the reading made by each operating system in the respective controls according to the type of prosthesis and code size; p≥0,05 values were not statistically significant. This research was adhered to the current regulations for health research in Colombia. Results: 63 prostheses were evaluated, where the majority of the participants were women (74,6%), and (33,4%) of the respondents were systemically compromised. The reading in total dentures was 90,6% and in partial dentures 100%; No statistical differences were found between the second and fourth month readings; Regarding the size of the code, there was also no statistical difference (p> 0,05). The 0,9cm codes had an effectiveness of 95,8% and the 1,1cm codes 88,2%. Reading the QR code, both on devices with IOS and Android operating systems, obtained the same effectiveness in readability at two months (98,1%) and at four months (92,7%). Likewise, it was observed that in 7,3%, the QR code was not read successfully success due to failures in the polishing technique, causing the breakdown of the acrylic covering this code and consequently the filtration. Conclusions: The effectiveness of the marking technique for acrylic dental prostheses using the QR code was 92,7% at the fourth month of use of the marked prosthesis, just as the size of the codes used did not have any variation in the reading. with the devices used, thus verifying the effectiveness of the marking technique performed. | |
