This project consisted in obtaining biosorbents with different particle sizes from the modification of agro-industrial waste to be tested and compared in the adsorption of Cr (VI) content in samples of synthetic water. A characterization of these adsorbents was performed by spectrophotometry DRIFT, the presence of functional groups such as alcohols, carboxylic acids, esters and ethers, having an interaction with chromate ions to form hydrogen bonds were determined. Kinetic and equilibrium experiments were performed to determine adsorbed amounts of Cr (VI) and subsequent adjustment of the data models of adsorption isotherms Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich and kinetic models of pseudo-second order, intraparticle diffusion and diffusion the liquid film used to determine selectivity, total capacity, affinity and reaction rates of these adsorbents, where it was evident that for smaller particle size the highest efficiencies are given, being better for pineapple. The fruits that best fitted to models isotherms were blackberry and lulo, pineapple however failed to adjust to the models that can better explain the mechanisms of adsorption. Finally, from the results of the environmental, social and economic impacts that have both the technique and its possible implementation at industrial level were established.
