Resumen
The main objective of the next research exercise was to psychologically understand family accompaniment, the way of coping and the psychological impact that is generated when one of its members is visually impaired. As a methodology for its development, it made use of second-order qualitative research through the implementation of two techniques: focus group and semi-structured interview, developed with people with specifically low vision disability and total blindness in ages between 18 and 67 years. The information collected was systematized by means of a matrix that includes: type of text, date, author, summary and contributions for the text and to carry out the analysis of the results obtained, the discourse analysis is used. Finally, it is possible to conclude that the family is the first source of support for those who are in this condition, however, when talking about family accompaniment, it is not only biological kinship that is referred to, but also the use of different resources to face the situation, through which they strengthen their capacities that allow them to face life, bearing in mind that different types of emotional reactions can occur when they are in this process of visual disability.
