Colombia has not been indifferent on the issue of achieving energy efficiency for the country, a lot studies have focused on that each agent in the electricity sector should do to achieve this efficiency and the technological effort that this development would have. A total of 5 common challenges have been identified to all the actors involved in the deployment of an intelligent network within the Colombian context. Being security and cybersecurity the priority challenge over others from the point of view of the new active role to the consumer, and also taking into account that the deployment of infrastructure is being advocated by different initiatives both nationally and internationally. In this way, a non-technical strategy is proposed to way this challenge, in a first phase that includes the use of the fiber optic network of the national fiber optic interconnection project, the user profile as a new critical asset within the sector and a sensitization to the users; so that it can be implemented at low cost and generate consumer confidence in Smart networks
