Resumen
Poverty in Colombia is a phenomenon studied by different specialists. Their measurement and decrease are carried out by the National State. However, the construction and social legitimacy of poverty are, in part, in charge of the media. So knowing and investigating this social reality requires new theoretical and methodological approaches appropriate to the degree of complexity it contains. The central focus of this research is to reveal how poverty is built discursively in two of the country's most historically important newspapers, Vanguard and Time, in the period from 1990 to 2017. It is interesting to track and establish the changes in meaning that this phenomenon has had in the media vision from a thematic analysis in order to be able to interpret it in the light of what is known in theory as the perspectives of poverty. It is hoped to provide a state of the art in the area of discursive treatment of poverty to serve as the basis for proposals to improve this problem.
