Resumen
This document shows the process of identification and evaluation of environmental risks generated by laboratory activities at the Universidad Santo Tomás Villavicencio - Aguas Claras, with the help of the methodology proposed by the (GTC 104, 2009) Identification and Evaluation of Environmental Risks. For the development of this internship, 4 stages were formulated as
follows; Stage I collection of primary and secondary information, in which it was collected through requests to the Environmental Coordination and Coordination of Laboratories, along with periodic visits to the laboratory practices developed in the university facilities. Stage II involved the identification of risk sources, description of the surrounding environment and potential
environmental risks to be analyzed, based on the information gathered in the previous stage. For the development of Stage III, the list of previously identified environmental risks was taken and the level of risk was qualitatively determined, followed by the environmental risk assessment based on a comparative matrix between the level of risk found against the assessment criteria
established by (GTC 104, 2009). Lastly, for stage IV, environmental alternatives or solutions are proposed for the prevention, mitigation or correction of the risks found, these alternatives were built with the help of the matrix of risks and opportunities of the (ISO 14001, 2015) and with the treatment measures provided by the (GTC 104, 2009).
As a result, a database was obtained that facilitates the understanding of specific information of the 20 laboratories of the University, this being a useful tool for any research subsequent to this project that is related to the area of laboratories. The development of the risk identification and assessment methodology, which can be applicable to any institutional process
or service area of the University, due to its clear and consistent model for environmental risk management, its process and its components. Finally, the identification of two potential unacceptable risks was obtained, which correspond to the Soil and Toxicology laboratory, these risks are related to the disposal of solid and liquid soil samples, for this priority solutions were
proposed to avoid significant environmental impacts.
