During the second semester of 2021, the characterization and improvement plan was carried out
for the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices in cocoa production systems as a pilot
model in the municipality of Vista Hermosa, a city affected by the armed conflict and
illicit crops but with great potential for cocoa cultivation and where its producers have found an
alternative to replace crops and improve their quality of life. The characterization was carried out
on 10 producers using the thematic manual of the facilitator in GAP (Resolution 082394 of 2020),
designed by the ICA, and the self-diagnosis in GAP through which the necessary information was
obtained to formulate improvement plans and carry out an analysis. economic according to the
shortcomings found. The results obtained in the characterization showed that the level of current
implementation of each producer is different from each other and at the same time no producer is
prepared for certification given the production conditions found, the poor socialization of the
benefits in economic, environmental terms. and sustainability as well as the impacts that are
generated in international markets by accessing GAP certification. Within the framework of the
characterization of the producers that do not have progress at any level (fundamental, major and
minor), the necessary budget is $19.141.000. GAP improvement plan elaborated in the present
work is a proposal that allows establishing itself as a guide for all cocoa producers in the
municipality of Vista Hermosa who will have the objective of accessing this certification, since it
has the requirements established by the ICA. within the framework of the International Standard
and in articulation with the agreements and pacts of the TLCs
