This research was carried out at farm San Gabriel, las Quemas area, province of Osorno, Chile. It lasted 143 days, starting on October 5th, 2002, ending on February 25th, 2003. Seventy calves were used in the research from which 30 rresponded to the hybrid biotype (Angus x Hereford) and 30 to the frison biotype. In the research the possibility of daily weight gain differences per animal was measured as per the use of two hormone components available in the national market, Component and Ralone. In addition, daily weight gain differences were measured for the two biotypes used and it was determined the presence of dry matter in the hills used. Out of the seventy calves used during the trial, twenty were implanted with Component EH and twenty with Ralone, leaving twenty of them without any implants as the witness group. From the twenty calves used in each group, ten of them were frison biotype and ten hybrid biotype. Individual weighting of the animals was done every twenty eight days approximately, in order to determine the daily weight gains. In order to determine the presence of daily weight gain differences a statistics computer programme Statgraphics Plus 5.1 was used, carrying out varianza analysis, separating medias with the method LSD. In the research, the presence of relevant statistics differences in the daily weight gains was confirmed when comparing the hormone compounds used to the witness group results and also the fact that no statistics differences were present between the implants applied. Besides, it was also determined the presence of important differences in the daily weight gain between the different biotypes of calves used.
