Resumen
Introduction: using the guidelines of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in the design of a health program is little used, if not null, in the scope of the provision of healthcare services at the Colombian level, since projects are started many times without planning in an adequate way giving results that are not expected, generating delays, cost overruns and with results without the expected quality. Objective: Determine the foundation of the structure of the design of an intravenous therapy program with guidelines from the Project Management Institute. Methodology: the guide of the fundamentals for project management (PMBOK Guide) was used for the development of this degree work, following guidelines, tools and techniques proposed in the sixth edition. results and conclusions: through the foundation of the intravenous therapy program through the completion of three chapters that comprise the general structure of the program, it allows to detail the structure of the care process for users when they require a vascular access device during hospitalization, thus As the evaluation of the program will be carried out, it also describes through the structure of a document the development of a concise design and following the triple restriction of a project, price, time and quality, it was finally possible to conclude that using the Project Management guidelines del (PMI) in my project was totally innovative because it allowed the use of techniques and tools for the direction and management of health projects, generating a much more strategic and realistic planning with respect to costs and the time in which it will be executed
