In the development of this project, the design parameters of a flow gauge contemplated within a sand trap were determined, through simulation in the IBER 2.6 software, as a structure for the community aqueduct of the Playa Rica neighborhood located in commune 8 in the city of Villavicencio. In order to contribute to the rational use of water, avoiding the affectation of the basins from which the catchment is made, additionally, serve as a tool so that they can legally continue to have the catchment permits granted by CORMACARENA.
The foregoing was carried out through a methodology with a quantitative approach, in which initially an identification of the characteristics in the field was carried out through a visit to the aqueduct system, after which flow data and plans were requested. of the grit trap, which were digitized.
Subsequently, the design of the flume was carried out, where the simulation of the sand trap was first made with the flow data and plans provided by the aqueduct, in order to know the behavior of the flow within this structure, and to have the results that served as criteria. for design. On the other hand, it was also necessary to carry out an analysis with the relevant bibliographic information and in relation to the hydraulic data and design of the sand trap. In relation to the above, a rectangular landfill-type gauging device with two contractions was established as a gauging structure for the aqueduct.
Likewise, this structure was simulated in conjunction with the sand trap, resulting in a constant speed and adequate hydraulic draft, so that the sedimentation processes inside the sand trap occur appropriately. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the landfill within the sand trap structure does not affect its proper functioning, and on the contrary favors its conditions.
Finally, the parameters for the design of the capacity structure and their sensitivity were established. For which an operations and maintenance manual was made for the landfill, taking into account its operation in the aqueduct.
