Resumen
Gender stereotypes are understood as a set of beliefs, practices and attitudes that influence behavior, action and thinking, both in men and women. They are built in social and personal relationships, transmitted through culture and different relational systems. Gender is a sociocultural construction that represents social and sexual positions on "man" and "woman". In different studies, gender stereotypes are important referents of multiple inequalities that occur in terms of gender diversity, so it is proposed to know the gender stereotypes in a group of public accounting students from the Universidad Santo Tomás de Villavicencio.
Taking into account the objective, a qualitative approach was used, from the interpretive paradigm with phenomenological methodology in which focus groups and individual interviews were used as information collection strategies, as main findings it was found that the participants assume traditional gender stereotypes that are they learn at home and reproduce in different contexts of socialization, maintaining roles and behaviors that have been naturalized and normalized in the different relationship dynamics, preserving macho discourses and sexist gender stereotypes that continue to reproduce cultural and generational practices and behaviors.
