Resumen
The purpose of this research was to study the dynamics of appropriation, diffusion and cultural consumption of gaita music in San Jacinto, Bolívar nowadays, in order to determine if an appropriation towards the musical, cultural tradition exists or remains as identity that characterizes the region. Initially, a historical contextualization of gaita music was performed to account for the transformations that it has acquired over time. After that, the practices of preservation and appropriation of gaita music that are currently maintained were examined. Finally, the ways to spread and consume gaita music were specified, and there is an analysis made due to the impact of the digital era and the new ways of consuming music. Thanks to this study, the close relationship that exists today between appropriation and cultural consumption was verified, due to the changes that globalization has left on cultural aspects, starting from the multicultural movement that had its beginning in the eighties, which has influenced that the ways in which cultural traditions are conserved, appropriated and consumed reconfigure and take more commercial, tourist and industrialized routes.
