Resumen
The environment has long been a priority within the strategies proposed by the world population, due to climate change, which according to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF, 2019) "constitutes a direct threat to the ability of children to survive, grow and thrive" (p.2 ); it is for this reason, that an education should be started from an early age for ecological awareness and thus contribute to environmental sustainability, which is why the project aimed at students of 4th and 5th grade of the Educational Institution- I. E. Pedro Carreño Lemus, San Isidro headquarters, located in Convención Norte de Santander, was created.
From this work, environmental recreational strategies were designed for students of 4th and 5th grades, so that children could learn about their environment through play, in order to acquire appropriate habits about the use of natural resources, solid waste management and other aspects that contribute to improve the space around them. It should be emphasized that it is the teachers who, by the very nature of their profession, are the ones called to re-educate the behavior of the man of the future, taking into account that they provide the pedagogical tools within their reach, in order to re-direct the irresponsible behavior of their elders.
Now, in order to create such environmental awareness in children, it was necessary to promote learning about the importance of caring for the environment and therefore, each of the initiatives that will be presented here, raise the urgent need to improve the environment, as a way to be in solidarity with the environment that the community needs and deserves.
