Resumen
Introduction: This research paper aims to describe the anatomical variations of the first lower premolars, found in CBCT of a representative sample taken at the Diagnostic Imaging Center of the Santo Tomás University during 2018. Objective: Describe the root anatomy of lower premolars according to the Vertucci classification evaluated in CBCT. Materials and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional observational study. Bimaxillary and lower jaw tomographs taken in 2018 at the diagnostic imaging center of the Santo Tomas University where we will find the lower premolars. All the teeth that meet the selection criteria will be used in the study. Results: The number of tomographs evaluated and analyzed in this study were 83, within this group of tomographies 7 of them were excluded according to the established criteria and the total of teeth evaluated were 242 within the 76 tomographs that did qualify within the investigation. Conclusion: The study carried out showed us that in the tomographic images evaluated, the type I vertucci classification prevailed in both men and women. Type VII and VIII vertucci classifications were not found in the analysis of the tomographies of the Santo Tomas University, and in other studies these two classifications are not evident either. Age and gender in relation to the vertucci classification is not statistically significant.
