Abstract

This research work has as its objective to understand the university rankings effects over university governance in the Peruvian Higher Education System. Through Sociological Neo-Institutional Theory, we propose to explain how university rankings are institutionalized. We focus on three aspects that we consider essential: (1) Institutionalization as a process, (2) World-class-university notion, and (3) the impact of that notion over the University Governance. Finally, as a conclusion, we propose a qualitative planning research and possible analysis options to deepen the institutionalization phenomena in the Peruvian context.
