Resumen
The border between Colombia and Venezuela is a continuous international boundary of 2,219 kilometers that separate the territories of both countries, with a total of 603 milestones that mark the dividing line. It is the longest border that both nations have with any other.
Colombia currently has three border crossings with the Venezuelan border; These are: the border crossing of Paraguachon in the department of La Guajira, the border crossing of Cúcuta, (one borders the Venezuelan city of Ureña and the other, which is the most important, located in Villa del Rosario, which borders the Venezuelan city San Antonio de Táchira), and the Arauca border crossing.
The great extension of the limit makes it difficult to control human movements in it, especially on the part of Colombia, which has its area in a state of abandonment border (which is evident when comparing the numbers of military personnel posted: Venezuela has more than 20,000 men, distributed among 17 units between bases, brigades and battalions, while Colombia only reaches 4,000, divided into 9 units).
