Resumen
Introduction: The booklets of visual acuity [VA] near vision [NV] are the starting point for other visual tests as diagnosis and treatment of amplitude of accommodation, flexibility, among others. However, current booklets are the same for children and adults regardless of the factors that may affect their use, such as: patient education, type of test, refractive defect, the conditions for examining, among others; therefore this research allowed to know the operational characteristics of validity of booklets making VA in NV, finding flaws and suggesting the creation of a booklet for use by primary school children.
Methods:
An observational study of systematic review was made about articles found in indexed journals and reliable database of the St. Thomas Aquinas University about the theoretical foundation of the booklets evaluating VA in NV in primary school students was made through equations of search descriptors found in health sciences.
Results: Research on the availability of two primers validated in children was found: MNREAD and Binoptometer , but only took into account the first reading ability and presented the best evidence of validity and reliability of both adults and children because a queue allows measuring the speed of reading and printing of critical size, which is smaller than the letter can be read at maximum speed . 2,316 articles were found about VA in NV on database: Virtual Health Library, Ebsco, Scholar Google, PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct and Scopus. From them 53 were selected by title and abstract. Taking into account the selection criteria, 23 articles were taken to apply quality assessment. Only 2 of the articles were selected. (MNREAD y Binoptometer).
