Resumen
In the municipality of Santana, Boyacá, the panela production process is the most important in the region, because it is the main source of employment and therefore of income for families, this activity panelera is composed of several stages, where the use of natural resources is essential. The panelera industry has been generating impacts on the sub-basins of this area, due to the abuse of resources, the constant residual discharges and emissions originated in the productive process. For this reason, it is imperative to create patterns and mechanisms that allow to harmonize and balance the productive and socio-environmental process in a single line, in such a way that the development of the activity does not interfere negatively on the environment and its community.
With the above and based on primary information, the initiative was created to carry out an evaluation of the socio-environmental impacts generated by each stage of the panela production process in the Sancute sub-basin, to later propose strategies for prevention, control and mitigation.
The methodology used met the expectations of identifying the impacts and facilitated the proposal of key strategies, efficient, with greater benefit and low cost to establish the management mechanisms that contribute to planning the production process, interacting in a more friendly way with the environment, involving the community and the producers themselves, and thus achieve a balanced socio-environmental management that contributes to the ordering of the hydrographic basins of the municipality.
