Reading, writing and play in early childhood education in the department of Nariño in the 2013-2020 period, analyzes pedagogical conceptions and didactic proposals; opinions on child development and the communicative dimension; recommended processes used in the initial learning of reading and writing and the role of play as a didactic strategy. The documentary review from an investigative perspective and using the qualitative paradigm of the writings that correspond to published articles, as well as works written in the formats of undergraduate, specialization, master's thesis and a book published in the period between 2013 and 2020. All the selected and analyzed works of universities that offer preschool and early childhood education programs in the department of Nariño. These academic efforts contribute to the improvement and transformation of preschool education or early childhood education in the area of language in the department of Nariño, Colombia. As a tangible product, the design and prototype of a didactic material for pedagogical support in the transition from the syllabic to the alphabetic level in the natural process of initial learning of reading and writing of preschool-transition children is included.
