Resumen
This proposal is a continuation of the research between the Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and Religious
Education (RE) of the Faculty of Education of the University of Santo Tomás (USTA) and the Bachelor's
Degree in Philosophy and Religious Sciences of Faculty of Theology, Philosophy and Humanities of the
Catholic University Lumen Gentium (FUCLG). During 2015-2016, an approach has been developed to the
nature of the RE and to its epistemological foundation. In that first phase, the conclusions state the need to
base RE as a discipline and school discipline.
From this perspective, it is proposed in this second phase (2017-2018), to make the theoretical
construction of the arguments that allow to base the RE as a school discipline starting from the
development of three types of theories, namely: a) nuclear theories: where The nature of the RE is
consolidated through the dimension and spiritual intelligence and transcendent dimension; B) practical
theories: here we find the understanding of curriculum, didactics and evaluation in RE; C) and other
theories: that refer to all those theoretical constructs, that although they are not directly related to the
object of study (nature of the RE), they contribute to its construction as the studies of religion, among
others. This process aims to serve as a foundation for the third (curricular contents in RE, didactics of RE
and competences in RE) and fourth phase (guidelines and curricular standards in RE).
