This paper studies how the digital divide is related to the performance of high
school students in Colombia, in a context of the fourth industrial revolution. For this
purpose, linear regression models are estimated to establish the impact of the digital divide
on the score registered by students in the Saber 11 tests of the year 2020 in the different
departments of the country. In addition, a model is built by Ordinary Least Squares method
that contains 588.967 observations that allows establishing the determinants of the digital
divide in the departments, finding that those with the highest incidence of multidimensional
poverty and the lowest GDP per capita have a greater digital divide. Finally, the impact of
the digital divide on academic performance in official and private institutions located in
urban and rural areas is observed.
