Resumen
The present investigation explored antisocial, criminal and impulsive behavior in the context
of Obligatory Military service in Colombia. In order to accomplish this, a pre experimental
pre-test / post-test study with only one group was designed, in which two assessment
instruments were administered (Antisocial-Criminal Conduct Questionnaire and Plutchick
Impulsivity Scale). This was made at the beginning of military service and subsequently at
the end of military service after 12 months of service. The sample consisted of 118 soldiers
(102 bachelors and 16 regulars), which are members of the second contingent of 2016 of the
Air Transport Military Command. The ages of the cohort are between 18 and 19 years. As in
the results, a significant positive correlation was obtained between criminal behavior and
impulsiveness at the beginning and end of the period of military service; likewise, there was
an increase in the presentation of antisocial behavior, crime and impulsiveness at the end of
obligatory military service. In terms of socioeconomic status, there are more antisocial and
criminal behaviors in the lower status. Military service brings together factors that favor the
adoption of antisocial and criminal behavior in young people.
Key words: compulsory military service, antisocial behavior, criminal behavior,
impulsiveness.
