Resumen
This paper presents a relationship between the factor of safety, the failure probability and the reliability index, as a function of the modification of the coefficient of variation for an excavation contained by a sheet piling, studied from soft and frictional soils parameters, in order to evaluate how the variation of the data affects the modeling results.
Based on the bibliography where the ranges of coefficient of variation have been determined, the information analysis is performed for an assumed stratigraphic profile.
Through a known coefficient of variation, the standard deviation can be determined, being a mandatory input for this kind of evaluation.
These data are introduced to the Software Slide by Rocsicience, developing the models using the limit equilibrium method and Spencer's theories, GLE/Morgentein-Price, Bishop Simplified, Jambu Simplified, with the aim of specifying the behaviour of the soil when making an intervention, or as a definitive solution.
The NSR-10 is limited to the evaluation under the safety factor parameters, as a result, generally speaking, assessments that relate the failure probability and the reliability index are not developed. Therefore, this research is expected to be an input for the creation of documents and engineering projects that develop better predictions about soil behavior.
Finally, as the main contribution it was possible to observe that, The lower the coefficient of variation, the probability of failure of 0 and the reliability index of 5, it is possible to use a safety factor lower than those required in the conventions, furthermore, by increasing the coefficient of variation, the required safety factors are higher than the regulations. In addition, an analysis of the costs per linear meter of the intervention is carried out, indicating that the less uncertainty, the lower construction costs.
