Resumen
The present study focused on the producing an ethnobotanical document in the department Caldas of the vegetable species, recognized as medicinal with use for respiratory diseases such as: asthma, bronchitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, pneumonia, rhinitis, sinusitis and cough; some of them are attributed to the exposure of pollutants present in the air. Next, a documentary investigation is presented on the medicinal plants of the department Caldas with using for respiratory diseases; this documentary research consists of four important phases that are: arching of sources, revision, interpretation and conclusions; all based on the reference documents cited during the development of the project. In total, 25 native and foreign plant species were inventoried in the department, recognized for their medicinal properties and their use for the previously determined diseases. The project sought to specify the information related between medicinal vegetable species and respiratory diseases, based on information that was similar to the climatic and biodiversity characteristics of the department of Caldas. It is hoped to benefit the community of the educational sector with the results obtained, which consist mainly of an ethnobotanical document that contains the description, properties, life zone, diseases, preparation and use of the selected medicinal plants. Many of the plants recognized as medicinal were discarded since not enough information was found about them; in case other sections of this project arise, it is recommended to have an ethnobotanical review of the information obtained during the research phases.
