This study determined the soil and climatic conditions, the physical, human and financial resources, and the strategies needed to establish blueberry in the town of Guaca, department of Santander, to be marketed in the capital of the department Bucaramanga city.
The production of blueberries in the tropics has its best performance in climatic conditions from 2 200 meters above sea level, finding in Guaca Town very similar conditions. According to the technical study, plants in containers were determined as the best option to produce the fruit and it is foreseen that in the first year around 2 000 kg can be produced until gradually surpassing the 15 000 kg for year 5.
The potential market for blueberries in Bucaramanga city is found in members of the social strata 4, 5 y 6, of which one would expect that for the establishment of production at least 2% of households in these strata, demand for the first year 9 281, 62 kg of blueberries, at the rate of 6,5 kg/year or 125 g weekly for each household.
The necessary strategies for establishing production were determined according to internal and external analysis and establishing the business model using a Canvas template.
It was finally determined that the necessary investment to establish a blueberry production and marketing agribusiness in Guaca to market in Bucaramanga is $278 973 557 pesos which would be recovered at the beginning of the 5th year in a projection to 10 years.
