Resumen
The development of the internet and its expansion in everyday life has given way to endless new interaction forms from which subjects reconfigure themselves in their own identities and in their way of relating, including the creation of new ways of acquiring and offering goods and services, even in the realm of sex work. This has typically been associated with women, although in it some men also find their livelihood. Online sex work, called webcam modeling, opens up new concerns from sociology, especially when men do this work. This research shows how homosexual men who work as webcam models are immersed in the dynamics of representation within masculinities through the pages in which they carry out their work, which allow sex workers to have freedom to express their own masculinity, generally not hegemonic; their gender identity, especially the non-binary one; and their diverse sexual orientations, beyond simply being their source of income. The impersonal nature of this mode of interaction and the current changing social dynamics, in which the forms of power and visibility of historically pathologized and excluded populations are being restructured all the time, allow these men to establish themselves in society and at the individual level from a more standardized perspective.
