Resumen
This research aims to make a proposal for the implementation of lean as a tool for
continuous improvement in universities.
The theoretical framework is based on the theory of organizational learning and
intelligent organization. In addition, it is based on diverse perspectives and tools of Lean.
Likewise, a literature review is carried out to identify the experiences of Lean application in
Higher Education Institutions at a national and international level. Next, the institutional,
national and international regulations regarding the accreditation of high-quality master
programs in Colombia are analyzed, in accordance with the normative update (Decree 1330 of
2019), looking for an articulation between the current and future actions of the proposal.
The methodology applied is a qualitative, descriptive approach, documentary and content
analysis that provides the necessary elements for the proposed application of Lean in the
Universities. The proposed model is focused on the application of the DMAIC tool (Define,
Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) identifying weaknesses in the object of study; giving
way to the verification of the results through semi-structured interviews and finally, the proposal
for the improvement of the process or procedure involved, aimed at strengthening the links
between the various stakeholders through actions that generate a sense of belonging and
participation in teaching, research, projection and internationalization.
