Resumen
The laser is an activation method that helps to clean and disinfect the root canal, with different wavelengths that allow the elimination of the smear layer. Two techniques have been used to activate the irrigant with the use of the laser, one of which is the PIPS technique that generates a turbulent flow of the irrigator and the Laser Activated Irrigation (LAI). Objective: To compare the efficacy of the technique Activated Laser Irrigation (LAI) and Current Photon-induced Acoustic Photo (PIPS) in the removal of the dentinal smear in the apical third using the Er Laser, Cr: YSGG. Method: An in vitro experimental study was carried out. Twenty-five uni-mandibular mandibular premolar teeth were evaluated, which were divided into 5 groups of 5 teeth each, including the control group. All samples were instrumented with the Mtwo rotary system, sectioned longitudinally and observed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 2000X. Results: Statistically significant difference was found for groups 1 (p = 0.00), 2 (p = 0.29), on the contrary groups 3 (p = 0.317) and 4 (p = 0.04) and 5 (p = 0.708) presented normality
