Resumen
The Guadua Rolliza Angustifolia Kunth, is affected by different factors that can modify its mechanical resistance, among which are the modification factor due to moisture content and exposure to solar radiation. Different studies have shown that the mechanical resistance of the material to different load stresses decreases as its exposure to abiotic weathering factors increases. To carry out the investigation, forty-eight specimens of round guadua Angustifolia Kunth were taken, which were subjected to the natural deterioration generated by continuous exposure to solar radiation, humidity, and temperature. Process that began at the same time of cutting in the plantation, generating chemical and physical changes with alteration of the mechanical properties
(Colombian Institute of Technical Standards ICONTEC, 2007) [1]. To determine the effect of resistance due to the continuous exposure to natural weathering in the city of Bogotá, a natural exposure cycle corresponding to 7608 hours, equivalent to 10 months and 17 days, was proposed as the appropriate time to measure the degree of deterioration From the guadua at the mechanical level, parallel tension tests were applied to the fibers in accordance with the Standards: NTC 5525, ASTM D638 and ASTM D 3039. The results obtained during the tests performed on the first specimens for bases and overbases at an initial time Ti = 0 hours, were compared with those projected for a final time T1 = 7608 hours. Obtaining percentages of reduction of the mechanical resistance to tensile stress for the specimens of natural round guadua Angustifolia Kunth in its natural state and with protective surface varnishes for wood known in the market as Impranol of Durespo and Barnex de Pintuco.
During the development of this work the varnishes applied on the surfaces of each guadua specimen separately will be named C1 and C2, therefore, three types of guadua specimens failed, which are presented in their natural state without any type of protection, those protected by a protective layer C1-Impranol of Durespo and those that have a coating with the product C2- Barnex de Pintuco.
Three samples were presented with differences in their physical characteristics for the round-cut guadua specimens, with independent variables from each other, where the results obtained in tensile stresses, modulus of elasticity and unit deformations, product of the time of analysis were analyzed, compared and quantified. exposure to natural weather and resistance changes in the exposed material. The results showed that there is a reduction of the mechanical properties with an increase in the Elasticity Modules as a result of high moisture content and low deformations.
