Modern industry has experienced a rapid proliferation of automated technology that has greatly improved efficiency and effectiveness within production. The core of this technology is Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and that is why today's workforce must be aware of skills in programming and operating PLC systems using an optimal variety of basic commands and advanced program. The Portable PLC Learning System addresses this need by providing the student with the possibility of learning in a comprehensive workstation to gain knowledge of modern PLC systems, (widely used in today's industry). It is important to mention that university students learn the basic and advanced applications of this type of system using Logix-pro and Step 7 for the PLC, a Panel View terminal and networks in the entirety of their study plan.
The purpose of this project is to provide the Santo Tomás University with an automation and control system that allows the simulation of the different industrial processes within the electronics laboratories, since these portable systems will simulate the required environments in a simpler and more the same quality that current systems offer.
