Resumen
The following research work arises from the interest of taking a sociological look at the subject of sport in Colombia, its introduction into society and its elements of dissemination as an instrument of power. Starting from a temporal space contextualization of the Liberal Republic (1930-1946) in Colombia, the massification of its practice, its technification and professionalization is analyzed. The analytical journey was strongly nurtured by Norbert Elías, a contemporary thinker who studied Sports throughout his life and provided tools to understand the social, economic and political value of the subject.
Thus, this analysis is divided into three parts. The first is a conceptual development that includes the concepts of Civilization, Modernity, Body in Modernity, Physical Education and Sport. This first section provides the theoretical bases to understand the subject. In section two, we will review the modernization projects in Colombia between 1880-1946, which includes the Conservative Hegemony (1880-1929) and the Liberal Hegemony (1930-1946) against Modernity, Sport and the instruments of Modernization, which each period used.
Finally, in section three, "Liberal Republic, Sport and Modernization" we will analyze the massification of sport, its technification and professionalization in Colombia, which occurred in the period of the Liberal Republic (1930-1946). This section was constructed through documentary analysis carried out mainly in the General Archive of the Nation (AGN) in order to respond to the central objectives of the research.
