Resumen
Introduction: The characteristic of a profile is a fundamental process to identify the particular or unique aspects of an individual, in which family, social, personal and academic areas are analyzed, in order to obtain a complete characterization of the profile. Objectives: To determine the sociodemographic characteristics and specific interests of the dental students of the Universidad Santo Tomás de Bucaramanga in the year 2021. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was analyzed by means of a personal survey through the Forms platform, which included quantitative and qualitative variables on personal, family, academic and recreational aspects in 319 students distributed in the different semesters of the School of Dentistry at the Santo Tomás University of Floridablanca. Results: The average age was 20.5 years; 85.8% of the participants expressed the desire to learn a second language such as English, French or German; when studying the family variable, the vast majority of the parents work independently; as for the recreational variables, it was recorded that most of the respondents have some kind of hobby in their free time and have participated in some cultural activity outside the university. Conclusions: It was determined that the socio-demographic profile of the students was female, with an average age of 20 years, coming from and residing in the urban sector, with socio-economic strata 3 and 4, originally from the Andean region.
