The general objective of this work is to strengthen school coexistence through the practice of chess in the recreational spaces of the Instituto Agrícola de Pueblo Bello, based on authors such as: Fernández (1999), Morales (2002), Latorre (2005), Tobón et al (2009) MEN (2015), with which the most relevant theoretical references were developed for the development of the study categories, school coexistence, Chess practice and recreational spaces, it is an interpretive paradigm, with a socio-critical approach in the framework of a qualitative methodology, focused on Latorre(2005), with a population of fourteen students and a teacher of the Agricultural Institute Pueblo Bello of ninth grade, the techniques and instruments that were applied were: Participant observation, in-depth interview, documentary review, and the field diary, a didactic sequence designed by the researcher was applied, comprised of six stages, containing the development of beginning, development and closing activities in each one, the interview was applied in two moments before and after the implementation of the didactic sequence to determine the effectiveness of the same, The working hypothesis was accepted in which it was proved that the didactic sequence does strengthen school coexistence through the practice of chess, it was concluded that thinking skills can be developed through the practice of chess during school coexistence and that the recreational spaces of the institutions can be used to promote this game among the students.
