At present in Colombia, enormous efforts are being made to have a robust road network and in optimal operating conditions. This has led public and private entities to implement new construction alternatives such as the use of
Soil stabilizing materials with non-conventional materials, being convenient for Colombian engineering, to make the adequate transfer of knowledge by evaluating the
impact, and the possibility of use for the soils of the national territory through validations that provide technical and scientific support in order to have durable, economic and
friendly with the environment, guaranteeing the economy and stability of the road works.
In this document the analysis of the physical properties and the determination of the dynamic properties in the resonant column equipment of a subgrade soil in natural state is carried out, which was the reference to compare the same properties after being modified with a commercial soil modifier product in the national territory. Basic soil resistance and classification tests were carried out, as well as special tests to measure damping and shear modulus in the Resonant Column equipment both to the natural soil and to the soil itself after the addition of the modifier. The results obtained indicate that the modifier has positive effects in light of conventional tests for the evaluation of resistance and physical properties, however, when determining the dynamic properties the results are not the best, the modified soil presents a decrease in damping and an increase in stiffness which makes it susceptible to low deformations.
