Resumen
The present research objetive is to relate burnout syndrome, family functioning and academic performance of the psychology’s program students from the Santo Tomás University in Bogotá, through a case study with 75 students as a random sample of the 3 training cycles of the 22.32 % of a total population of 336 students; in whom the burnout syndrome was evaluated using the MBI-S (Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student) questionnaire and the perception of family functioning through the Adaptation, Participation, Personal Resource Gradient, Affection and Resources (APGAR-Family) questionnaire. The results were contrasted among them and with the academic performance through the accumulated average of each student. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used for the latter and for burnout, and Spearman's for family perception; From the significance obtained in the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The results shows the absence of burnout syndrome, medium-level correlations between the perception of family functioning and the components of the burnout syndrome: exhaustion (0.50), cynicism ( 0.52) and negative self-efficacy (-0.69), as well as predominant normality in family functioning (76%); Furthermore, a slight non-significant relationship was established between the mentioned variables and the academic average (-0.2, -0.07 and 0.17 respectively), which was slightly higher in the perception of family functioning (-0.10).It is concluded that the perception of family functioning has a moderate influence on the presence of the components of burnout syndrome.
