Resumen
The main premise of this research project is to carry out a diagnosis of the competitiveness conditions of small non centrifugal sugar producers, in the municipality of Nimaima Cundinamarca. In the same way, based on this diagnosis, an analysis is carried out to establish the competitiveness factors of the productive units. The project was structured in 4 phases, going through the review of the literature to support, through the theoretical aspects, the elements from which the level of competitiveness of the sugar mills can be established. In addition to the application of interviews as a qualitative contribution for the development of a more precise measurement instrument. Similarly, an instrument based on the IDB competitiveness map methodology and subsequent analysis of the results is applied. Competitiveness factors such as strategic planning, the value chain (production, production capacity, innovation, infrastructure, etc.), quality, accounting, human resources, environmental management and information systems were measured. Delving into this, a medium-low level of competitiveness was established, with a score of 2.02 on a measurement scale of 1 to 5. Therefore, it is established that producers have low levels of competitiveness, according to the measurement scale of the map tool. competitiveness of the IDB. The low level of competitiveness is especially evident when comparing the factors with those sugar mills that have modernized their production process, have been formalized and have a more entrepreneurial vision. Finally, it is concluded that the main limitations are in strategic planning, assurance of the quality and safety of the product, the use of new technologies, as well as marketing since no interest or specific actions are evident to exit the high intermediation to directly market the final product.
