Resumen
In this research, the level of knowledge of men and women between 18 to 30 years old in the city of Villavicencio about the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) was measured. This research arose due to the high rates of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in the city, and its intention was to facilitate future research and the development of public health strategies that help reduce the rates of HIV and STIs. A cross-sectional descriptive study with 264 participants -129 men, 135 women- from Villavicencio was carried out, and the scale of Conocimientos de VIH y otras ITS (Espada, Guillén-Riquelme, Morales, Orgilés, & Sierra, 2014) was applied. A medium-to-high level of knowledge was found with a score of 39 out of 48 with a minimum difference between genders. The data was analyzed with the statistical program SPSS.
