Resumen
The main objective of this work was framed in carrying out the hydrological and water quality characterization of the sub-basin of the Tonchalá stream in the municipality of San José de Cúcuta of the Norte de Santander department – Colombia. The results of the morphometric parameters that physically describe a slightly elongated sub-basin with low susceptibility to floods, in terms of the hydrological model, a calibration and validation was carried out in a part of the Zulia river basin starting from the Astilleros flow station since the Tonchalá stream sub-basin did not have stations of flow within its perimeter and thus in this way the flow regime with which the water supply was obtained was estimated. Finally, water quality is in the poor category, reaching values of 0.442, mostly due to contamination by organic matter from municipal waste evaluated at a single sampling point by CORPONOR.
