Resumen
In the field of international business, opportunities should be sought in the bilateral and multilateral treaties and agreements that Colombia develops with other countries. In this sense, the Pacific Alliance represents an opportunity to generate business with member countries through sectors and products, like Colombian coffee, that, as a product of great tradition and recognition in various markets around the world, can represent a vehicle in that direction, if strategies are developed that favor competitiveness to enter these markets.
Along these lines, the subject of this research is the Pacific Alliance as the agreement and the place to develop a set of commercial strategies for the Colombian coffee sector. Latin America increasingly works with greater dynamism to open its borders to the world. The most recent integration is the Pacific Alliance, in which Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru work to form a more attractive economic bloc before the world to promote a better commercial and investment position.
Developed in three phases, the variables that allow understanding the behavior in foreign trade and foreign investment of Colombia in the Pacific Alliance are identified. A mainly quantitative treatment of the information was carried out, then Colombia's progress in the Pacific Alliance was analyzed, particularly in relation to the coffee sector. On the one hand, to deal with the quantitative trends of the variables and, on the other hand, to analyze in a qualitative way the interviews carried out and, finally, based on the previous analyses, strategies were proposed for the exploitation of the Pacific Alliance by the Colombian coffee sector.
