Estudio de la felicidad laboral en la Universidad Industrial de Santander –UIS sede Málaga

Abstract

The present study is in line with the requirement of the public service model that focuses on the management of human resources, and that from different authors is analyzed as the concept of happiness at work (Fernandez, 2016). Happiness at work is reflected in companies in increased productivity (Lyubomirsky & King, 2005), improves the mental health of employees (Moccia, 2016), reducing absenteeism. In this sense, this study is carried out to find out the level of happiness at work of the employees at the UIS Málaga headquarters in order to establish programs and activities that contribute to their improvement. The instrument used was the survey with variables of demographic type, emotions and other aspects validated in other researches (Jansen, 2013); likewise, other variables oriented towards the characteristics of happiness at work were proposed (Angarita, 2003). The sample corresponded to 51 people among teachers and administrative staff assigned to the UIS Málaga headquarters who responded to the survey of happiness at work proposed by the researchers. As for the results, it was evident that regarding the social aspects and the work environment, the population surveyed stated that they were satisfied (3.38 and 3.24) respectively. With regard to personal and professional expectations, the workers at headquarters expressed that they were highly satisfied (3.52). The results of the present study contribute to the improvement programs proposed by the UIS, which from now on will be focused on objectives that will influence the happiness of the employees of the University
