Introduction: this research gathers information about the factors associated with dental erosion, the quality of the graves, the sequelae in the oral cavity of people, the pathological, chronic, localized and painless (in its infancy) loss of the dental structure. Produced by the action of acids and / or chelators in which bacterial metabolism does not participate.
Objective: to analyze, through a review, the factors associated with erosion.
Methods: a systematic review of systematic reviews with or without the presence of Meta-analyzes, related to dental erosion and causality from the PUBMED / Medline and SCOPUS databases, without considering the publication period. Three independent reviewers evaluate article selection, quality and data extraction. The last search on the basis of the data was made on August 21, 2018.
The methodological quality of the systematic reviews was integrated into the independent form with two checklists of validated (AMSTAR and PRISMA) by two authors. They were recovered for a total of 38 relevant publications. Finally, systematic reviews will be included.
Results: 13 articles were identified, 53.8% were of the systematic review type, 15.3% were metaanalysis type and systematic review, 1.3% were of a consolidated type and the remaining 23% were meta-analysis type. Regarding the evaluation of methodological quality, it has been found that 84.6% of the articles have been classified as quality in their methodological composition, 15.3% have been taken into account in the methodological structure and there is no evidence of low research quality. Dental erosion is directly related to risk factors such as: energy consumption, intake of energy drinks,
Gastro-Esophageal Relief (GER) among others.
Conclusion: a higher prevalence of extrinsic factors was found that are associated with hydrochloric acid, pepsins, bile sales and stomach travel, which reach the oral cavity and act on the tooth surface. Children and adolescents are vulnerable to the evidence that has been seen in the studies they confirm.
