Abstract
This research aimed to understand the construction of identity in relation to discourse around femininity and symbolic violence in the life story of two adult women, workers, who identify with a diverse body in the Colombian organizational context. A qualitative methodology and narrative design are used with semi-structured interview, life story, autoethnography, discussion groups, Photovoice, and discourse analysis as a strategy of result’s interpretation, a matrix of analysis was made from the following categories: discourses around femininity, identity, diverse bodies, and symbolic violence in the work context. In this way, it is possible to conclude that, from the understandings made by the participants and the different situations that cross them in a sociocultural context such as Colombian, the identity of women is permeated by the patriarchal discourse that has been imposed hegemonically in relation to the different ways of expressing and living the female role, glimpsing that impact on social spaces that connotes each other as rivals, reproducing the imposition of the role in the face of the need to be faithful reflections of a culture, thus preserving social norms that benefit not women but the patriarchal system. It is also found that, mainly in selection processes there are requirements associated with physique that limit the access of people with diverse bodies to the work environment, evidenced the standardization of this standard and the validation of these arguments as fair for dismissals or rejections in organizations.
