Resumen
The purpose of this research study is the planning and construction of a hydroponic crop, based on three determining factors. In the first place, the construction of a strong social fabric in Bosa, a locality of Bogotá, which is in great need of this, perhaps forgotten by the different authorities and the government of the capital city. Secondly, to find a place where we could observe through a transversal and interdisciplinary approach that learning is not just related to one particular thing but in a comprehensive and coherent manner and last but not least, we want from our specialty which is mathematics, to make use of mathematical processes that children can discover during each session. We achieved this by going on a journey through places such as the locality of Bosa, San Bernardino neighborhood, and San Bernardino district School and taking into consideration who lives there,
what problems exist, and which of these are the most likely to increase over time. Also, identify which children would like to participate in this research study on Saturday mornings. In this way we can carry out this project, learning about such interesting topics as hydroponic cultivation, the phases of the moon, human values, the importance of food sovereignty, and so on.
Having in mind all the mentioned, we plan, structure and build each class, starting by looking for an appropriate place to develop the project, getting all the materials needed such as wood, pipes, containers, cutting and painting them and giving in this way the completion and correct operationof the hydroponic crop. Once the research study was completed, we were able to observe what we have learned, but above all, we were able to observe what we lacked, recognizing that there are many improvements that could be made. To effect this, we made a new proposal, approaching it from a different angle and taking into account concepts such as volume and capacity, due to they could be observed directly from our new approach and hoping that God and life will allow us to carry out this research study again or that it has continuity in IED San Bernardino School.
