The relationship between variational thinking, algebraic and analytical systems and the resolution of mathematical problems has been the subject of several studies and articles that have filled with evidence and contributions that expose how the teaching of mathematics has been one of the greatest challenges of the education from the global context, this because the understanding of mathematical concepts requires a competence of analysis and subtraction of implicit ideas from the contents, therefore, they are not skills that can be learned from everyday life, but require a series of suitable bases. Therefore, for the development of this research, the strengthening of variational thinking and algebraic and analytical systems in 2nd grade students of the Cantagallos Educational Institution was formulated as a general objective, through the Phet simulator. It is in this way that the adaptation of the mixed methodological approach is proposed, combining with it the quantitative and the qualitative to check the hypothesis and through statistical data determine behaviors and establish patterns that allow with tasks and recreational activities with ICT to strengthen the general performance in the area of mathematics. For the rest, according to the use of the Phet simulator, a comparative analysis was carried out where it is highlighted that, in terms of percentages, competencies were substantially strengthened by 87%. All this not without first having difficulties lodged in the process that are constituted by the lack of maintenance of the hardware and software material and the low adaptation of teachers to this type of tool, otherwise, it is correct to affirm that it was possible to demonstrate that new information and communication technologies facilitate the learning of mathematics.
