Resumen
Psychosocial risk factors are the conditions present in a work situation, directly related to the organization, the content of the work and the performance of the task, which can affect the well-being, health and performance of workers, added to this with the current outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic the overwhelming burden of disease could lead to exhaustion of auxiliary nursing staff. These personnel are considered to have a high level of stress due to their long working hours, the large number of patients in their care and family obligations. The objective of this research is to describe the mental load in the auxiliary nursing staff of a psychiatric institution in Bogotá. Descriptive cross-sectional study with a sample of 51 nursing assistants, a sociodemographic characterization instrument and the NASA-TLX method were used. The data analysis was performed using Excel and R Core Team 2020. 76% correspond to women and 24% to men. 53.3% are single and 60% have children, an average age of 33 years for men and women. It was identified that the activity that generated the most load was responding for the inventory of items with 918.59 points, the dimension of "PERFORMANCE" was the most affected with 14.49. Strategies are recommended to reduce mental load in these three activities. The level of mental load in nursing auxiliary personnel is medium according to the NASA-TLX method.
